Two things growing and making me happy.

Two other things.

Big heads, little ego.
In the garden.

I think maybe those are peonies...? I'm really not sure - I'm much better at killing plants than identifying them.

Mother Nature wants her tree (my bench) back.
On the terrace.

A small bit of nature reclaiming the tree, long since cut down and formed into my bench.

They look like peonies to me. They're hard to kill.

I really want to plant peonies and hydrangeas (mostly hydrangeas) all along the side of my house. But Ben thinks we have enough plants. :( I need him to leave again so I can just put them in. Then the money is already spent. >:) (Is that the smiley for devious evil genius? Because that's what I was intending.)

Excellent, Jason. I'm pretty good at it, though.

He just came back! Timing, Al! Timing! And, yes I believe that is the universally recognized devious evil genius emoticon.

Is the sprout really growing out of the old wood versus up from the ground somewhere? Can it do that? That's really cool, if so.

Mmmm...I'm not sure that it's actually growing out of the wood. More likely it's sprouting from dirt trapped in the crevice in the wood. Like the moss that fills other parts of that crevice, I think.

I prefer to think it's just an extremely tenacious old tree, fighting back.

Oh yes--peonies. I love them. They're beautiful around here right now, too, though we don't have any in our yard--yet.
